HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT
Since the founding of the Bosowa group of companies in Eastern Indonesia, the development of human resources has always been a primary focus of HM Aksa Mahmud, the founder and chairman of Bosowa Corporation. Employees who are loyal, educated and highly dedicated are prerequisites for the sustainability of the Bosowa Corporation business. This view has been strengthened even more by the son of the founder, H Erwin Aksa, who has assumed leadership of Bosowa Corporation as Chief Executive Offi cer. Under his leadership, Bosowa Corporation is cultivating the commitment to excellence, or ‘BOSOWA EXCELLENCE’ that has been formulated through the Company’s Mission, Vision, Key Strategies and Core Values, as guidelines for the conduct of all employees of Bosowa Corporation in attaining the Company’s goals. Each and every Bosowa employee should posses quality norms, namely Professionalism, High Integrity, Responsibility and Accountability in all actions representing the Company. Through Bosowa Excellence, Bosowa Corporation aims to achieve a management standard of international scale that adheres to the principles of compliance pursuant to Good Corporate Governance. Implementation of ‘Best Practice’ at Bosowa Corporation is grounded upon the views the Company would be unable to generate financial PROFIT, without the support of a systematic business PROCESS, and the role of highly dependable, reliable and professional PEOPLE within the Company. It is the priority of Bosowa Corporation to maintain the balance between the three “Ps” of PROFIT-PROCESS-PEOPLE as the fundamentals for the long-term sustainability of the Company through the implementation of ‘best practice’ management that is acceptable to all stakeholders of the Company. Bosowa Corporate Human Resources, as an operating unit of Bosowa Corporation, has formulated the plan to develop the Company’s employees towards BOSOWA EXCELLENCE starting in 2007. The HR organisational structure is formed at Corporate level that is directly related to HR functions at the respective group level or business units. In its role to support the achievement of the Company’s operational goals. HR collaborates with the Company’s Management Board in determining the goals and activity plans to align HR policies with business and operational goals. Several of the strategic steps undertaken to enhance human resources at Bosowa Corporation are as follows:
ORGANISATIONAL RESTRUCTURING
The organisational structure of all operating units under Bosowa Corporation is being reviewed and restructured to align with the business strategy that is driven by the vision, mission and key goals of the Company. Complementing the restructuring efforts, planning for the Company’s human resources requirements is carried out based on ‘Quality and Quantity’. HR SOURCING Once the criteria for quantity and quality are met, sourcing for key personnel are done internally from within the Company for efficiency purposes, before external recruitments are carried out under rigorous procedures in order to achieve optimum work productivity. HR MAPPING A comprehensive HR mapping is undertaken of the Company’s personnel in order to obtain accurate data on the capabilities and potentials of each employee, such that personnel grading can be effected in an organised and accurate manner. HR DEVELOPMENT The development of human resources, especially those with potentials for growth, has become crucial bearing in mind that one of Bosowa’s Corporate Values is ‘competence’, which simply means that Bosowa has to have employees who are professional and reliable. HR development at Bosowa Corporation is undertaken through means of education and training, job assignment, job responsibility enhancement, job rotation and mentoring from direct superiors. RETAINING TALENT In the effort to retain talented workforce, Bosowa Corporate HR takes the approach of mentoring and developing every employee through the heads of respective operating units. Bosowa Corporate HR also formulates the remuneration and compensation scales that are attractive based on benchmarking against peer companies in Indonesia. Industrial relations programs for Bosowa’s business units that are labor intensive are carried out in order to maintain harmony between the company and employees. EMPLOYEE ADMINISTRATION AND SERVICE Bosowa Corporation upholds the Labor Laws of Indonesia and regards its employees as Company assets. The proper administration of employee particulars are important in building trust among employees and between employees and the Company. Bosowa protects the rights of employees and provides services to employees in the form of welfare, health care and work safety. |
